PCC Bird

Game developed on Processing consisting of a bird flying and avoiding pipes.

You can run both versions of the game without having to download it here.

Github Repository: https://github.com/agenteaty007/PCC_Bird

On each folder you will be able to find a PDE file, from Processing, and an html file. The html file will allow you to run the program on your browser locally thanks to the Processing javascript.

Background

After hearing about Code.org releasing a little coding exercise about programming your own flappy, I realized it shouldn't be too hard to code my own flappy game from scratch. Code.org made an exercise very interesting and simple for people of all ages to interact with, but I wanted to challenge myself a little bit harder. I already had previous experience with Processing and knew how easy it was to manipulate images on Processing, so I decided to give it a shot, just as a weekend exercise.

At first, I thought the task would take me only a few hours, but, after much struggling, I realized it would take a little longer. At the end, it took me about a whole weekend to finish something playable. All the same, the first version I made, PCC_Bird_v01, didn't account for gravity, but it was a functional first version, and it was Monday already. Later on, I gave it a try to gravity but didn't spend much time on it. PCC_Bird_v02 is the result of my attempt to add gravity.

The background of the game depicts the famous mirror pool of Pasadena City College. This location is a very popular symbol of Pasadena City College among its students since you will find this exact same picture on their websites and books.
